Summer Berries & Cream Dessert

by Linda Craig

Sticking to your gluten-free and dairy-free lifestyle is kind of hard when everyone else is eating “all the things”.  Make and bring your own healthy and scrumptious dessert that will leave you satisfied and guilt-free at any summer festivities this season!

The Whipped Cream: (FYI; heavy whipping cream is a fat, not dairy, but still don’t overdue it)

1 cup of organic heavy whipping cream

1 teaspoon of organic maple syrup

In a chilled glass or metal bowl, blend with mixer (chilled blades) until light and fluffy. Refrigerate.

The Berries:

1 cup of organic sliced strawberries

1 cup of organic blueberries

In a glass parfait bowl, add berries then top with a dollop of whipped cream.

Yields: 4 servings

If you are wanting more variety, additional toppings could include chocolate chips, cacao nibs, sprinkle of cinnamon, walnuts, cashews, and pecans.

Easy Ways to Reduce Cell Phone Radiation

Peer-reviewed research has demonstrated a myriad of adverse effects from cell phone radiofrequency (RF) radiation, including increased brain cancer, DNA damage, oxidative stress, immune dysfunction, altered brain development, damaged reproduction, sleep changes, hyperactivity, and memory damage. Thankfully you can easily reduce your daily dose with simple steps.

Distance matters.

While talking on your cell phone, prefer to position the cell phone away from your body as far as possible.

Whenever possible, use the speakerphone mode.

Avoid carrying your cell phone on your body at all times.

When a wireless phone is close to you, more than 50 percent of the RF is absorbed into your brain and body. Power phones 100 percent off before you carry them on your body.

Protect your fertility.

This radiation has been shown to damage sperm and ovaries. Many people move the phone away from their head to reduce exposure but then rest the phone on their lap, forgetting that a cell phone or laptop near the abdomen results in higher radiation absorption to the reproductive organs.

Avoid using your cell phone
when the signal is weak.

Be aware that when you are in an area of poor reception, the phone will increase RF radiation power output by over 1000 times to reach the nearest cell tower.

Use AIRPLANE mode and turn antennas OFF when not in use.

Airplane mode turns off most transmitting antennas. Be aware that with newer phone models, you also must turn off Bluetooth and hotspot antennas individually.

Children: Only use cell phones for
emergencies.

Children’s skulls are thinner than adults’ and their brains are still developing. Hence, radiation from cell phones penetrates more deeply into their brains and is likely to cause more damage.

Do not sleep with your cell
phone powered on.

Research shows that sleep is disrupted by cell phone radiation. Need an alarm clock? Simply set the phone to “airplane” or “flight” or “off-line” mode, which will stop “wireless” electromagnetic field emissions.

Decrease app radiation

Even if you are not using an app, it is always updating in the background, emitting RF into your body. Delete apps you are not using. Turn off auto sync for the apps you need and sync them manually at times when you are at a distance from the phone or when can connect with ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.

Use a corded home landline.

Use a corded home landline, not a home cordless phone, because cordless phones use electromagnetic microwave technology just like cell phones.

Connect your cell phone to the internet without radiation, by using an ethernet cord.

Yes, it is possible to connect your cell phone without radiation, by using a wire. In fact, once connected, you can do everything your cell phone usually does with Wi-Fi with a RF (radiation-free) connection.

Use your corded landline for most conversations.

Forward your cell phone to landlines whenever you are at home, then power off the cell phone without missing a call.

Avoid using the cell
phone inside spaces
that are surrounded
by metal, like a car.

The metal surroundings reflect the waves inside the vehicle, often increasing your radiation exposure.

Minimize time.

Whenever possible, minimize talk time and choose to communicate via text messaging rather than making a voice call to limit the duration of exposure and the proximity to the body.

Hold the phone away from your body when you press “send,” and do not rest your phone against your abdomen while texting.

If You Could Turn Back Time

by Kay Lucas

Everyone has a reason to wish time would stop or reverse – especially concerning your body. While time travel is still a mystery, full body rejuvenation is not.

There are many therapies available to reverse the effects of aging. The Danita Clinic offers several, and during a free consultation, they will discuss the best option for your concerns. They also have a board-certified family nurse practitioner available for general healthcare.

For many, the first signs of aging are noticed in the mirror – scars, wrinkles, skin discoloration, and hair loss, to name a few. The Danita Clinic can address those issues and more, using SkinPen. “It works well, especially on scars, and that’s mainly what we push for more than the aesthetic,” says Anita Swiss, owner of The Danita Clinic. They also have weight loss solutions for anyone looking to achieve their ideal weight using Semaglutide.

What about the physical pains from aging? The Danita Clinic’s answers are Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and regenerative therapies. Regenerative Biologic injections work wonders on overused joints, injuries and many other degenerative conditions, breathing issues, and stress incontinence. You can get biological material from your own body or a highly vetted donor. The injection is placed at the sight of your troubled area, but when the biological materials enter your body, they spread out to find inflammation, often helping in more than one location. Most conditions only require one injection, and the biological materials regenerate tissue. Also, there is no downtime needed after your appointment!

Compare that to steroid shots. Cortisone (steroid) shots only provide temporary relief, often lasting weeks to months, and the pain from the injection can last up to two days. Swiss further explains, “Steroid shots: you aren’t supposed to have more than three in one joint over a lifetime because they are catabolic – meaning they break down the bone and connective tissues and basically push you even closer to that surgery.”

Along with a personal history of injuries, Anita Swiss is a registered nurse with hospital experience. She has observed, and now cautions, about the surgical path. “Insurance companies put you on a glide path to surgery. #1 They don’t want to do it too soon because most [artificial] joints don’t last more than 10-12 years. #2 Anyone who has had a hip or knee replacement usually, within three years of having that, ends up having to have another joint replaced – either a knee, the other hip, the other knee, or on the same side, because of your gait and overcompensating from all this time getting to the surgery. And then you have offset it again and will overcompensate again.”

Another big sign of aging is the loss of hormones. The Danita Clinic is a proud provider of BioTE, a Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) company. BioTE is set apart from the competition because they have a small compounding tolerance for added perfection.

“I knew we [The Danita Clinic] were going to be doing hormone replacement, so we onboarded with BioTE because BioTE was the best,” Swiss speaks from personal experience.

Balancing your hormones will boost your energy, decrease hot flashes, and improve your libido, mood, and brain fog. BHRT is a small pellet inserted subcutaneously, so you get a constant dose of hormones and aren’t on a rollercoaster of highs and lows as you would from synthetic creams and pills. The pellets dissolve and only need to be replaced two to four times a year.

Because BioTE pellets are bioidentical, your body recognizes them as your own, and you absorb 100% of the hormones given to you. Unlike topical creams, there is no transference to your partner or others you come in contact with. Best of all, BHRT pellets are plant-based, not synthetically made from animal by-products.

Hormones work as a lock and key, and everyone’s needs differ. During a consultation at The Danita Clinic, you will have blood drawn and sent to a lab to determine your hormone levels so they can find the right balance for you.

Similar to some hormones, our body’s peptide production dwindles with age. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that our body naturally produces. Luckily, there are therapies available to help. Since there are over 7,000 known peptides in our body, there is a wide range of benefits to peptide therapy, such as weight loss, improved cognitive function, enhanced immune system, increased libido, better sleep, anxiety, depression, obsessive behaviors, neuro-degeneration conditions, and many more. The Danita Clinic’s website states, “Peptide therapy is the use of peptides in treatment to direct cells to perform the function specific to the peptide being used.”

Full body rejuvenation is how you can turn back the clock and slow the aging process. Don’t think you just have to live with physical or emotional pain and scars; there are many options available. Explore them all, especially if you are ready to get off the “pain-pill-hamster-wheel.”

Keeping the Bugs at Bay!

Summer is in full swing and the outside critters are very busy!  Lately, many people are talking about ants and mice. Eeek!

There’s a recipe that will help with both: 1 Cup Diatomaceous Earth, 1/2 Cup Neem Powder, 1/2 Cup Yarrow Root Powder, and 20 drops Eucalyptus oil. Spread this mixture across door thresholds, the garage door opening, and around patios and porches.

It really helps keep those critters at bay and it won’t hurt your pets (if you have chickens, don’t use dust while they are around to breathe it in). This recipe also helps with fleas, roaches, etc.  If people are camping out, it’s a must have. – Sandy Teska from Essentially Sandy.

What Are the SixPillars of Health?

By Liz Liokumovich

I recently met up with Lisa Banks of Live Healthy Be Healthy, a wellness center that incorporates several interesting facets under one roof.  Lisa, who is a Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner, Health Coach and Registered Nurse was called to help guide people into a healthier living lifestyle. The methods are based on the six pillars of lifestyle medicine: physical activity, healing sleep, cultivating social connections, stress reduction and management, plant-based nutrition, and avoidance of risky substances including tobacco cessation.

Lisa offers sessions for your feet under Fresh Feet Footcare. With three rooms set up for foot care, there is plenty of room for yourself and a friend. Lisa’s holistic approach came from her past experience in wound care. Her gift is to focus on foot care and help people feel better. Her gentle technique includes a complete foot and lower leg assessment. This includes non-aggressive nail treatment (fungal and/or ingrown), callus treatment, massage for feet and legs with the purpose of circulation improvement, and foot moisturizing treatments. Fresh Feet Footcare also offers an innovative solution for the treatment of toenails damaged by fungus, infection, or injury, restoring them to their original appearance; just ask about the Keryflex Nail Restoration System. This is perfect for getting those feet looking fresh and healthy for summer!

Live Healthy Be Healthy will be offering classes and workshops to help people get healthy, and with that comes being happy. The plant-based nutrition classes educate people how to eat right with an “outside the box” approach, not just a focus on a particular diet. As part of the nutrition classes, Lisa brought into her facility a multi-tiered hydroponics system for growing your own greens inside! Growing microgreens is also a topic within the classes.

Sleep classes will help get the mind and body ready for a good night’s sleep by teaching techniques on how to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up refreshed. Sleep is very important to our health, especially when so many of us stay up late on our phones and fall asleep with phones next to us.

Gentle exercise classes are also offered, including the use of a row machine and explanation of its benefits, as well as TRX straps. TRX straps are used for strength building exercises, cardio workouts, stretching, and flexibility training.

With such an interesting array of modalities and approaches to getting and staying healthy and happy, you would think everything was covered! But guess what? At the back of the office there’s an art studio run by local artist Edna Davis. Ms. Davis offers a form of art therapy classes called “intuitive art,” which is a process of creating art using an inner awareness and intuition.

Overall, this has been a very informative and a fun experience to meet Lisa and learn what Live Healthy Be Healthy is all about! Stop by for a visit and to learn about things that you thought you knew about, but there is actually much more to know!

For more information about the six pillars of health and comprehensive foot care, contact Live Healthy. Be Healthy at: 864-243-8614 or visit: LiveHealthyBeHealthy.health.

Liz is a wife and homeschooling mom of four by day, and a self-proclaimed “Researcher-Hawk” by night (hopefully with some sleep in between). She’s looking forward to discovering more natural therapies to keep her life in balance.

Natural Alternatives to Help Alleviate Fatigue

by Leila Scogin, C.N.H.P.

The Joi Center

Feeling tired and drained can be a common occurrence for many people, especially those with busy schedules or stressful jobs. While there are many over-the-counter solutions for fatigue, natural remedies can be just as effective and can help provide longer-lasting relief without the negative side effects.

Here are some natural remedies for fatigue that you can try:

Exercise: Exercise is a great way to get your blood pumping and boost your energy levels. Even light stretching or a short walk can help to wake you up and make you feel more alert.

Hydrate: Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is essential for keeping your body functioning properly. Dehydration can lead to fatigue and the build up of inflammation in our bodies, so be sure to drink enough water to stay hydrated.

Get enough sleep: Getting a good night’s sleep is crucial for feeling energized and refreshed the next day. Aim for at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night and try to establish a consistent sleep schedule.

Eat a balanced diet: Eating a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help provide your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly. Avoid processed foods and excess sugar, as these can cause a crash in energy levels.

Try natural supplements: Certain natural supplements like ashwagandha, cordyceps, magnesium, and vitamin B12 have been shown to boost energy levels and reduce fatigue.

Reduce stress: Chronic stress can lead to fatigue and burnout, so it’s important to find ways to manage stress levels. Try practicing breathwork, meditation, or yoga to help reduce stress and feel more relaxed.

In conclusion, there are many natural remedies for fatigue that can help you feel more energized and alert. By incorporating these tips into your daily routine, you can improve your overall health and well-being while avoiding the negative side effects of many over-the-counter options. Give these natural remedies a try and see how they can help improve your energy levels and alleviate fatigue. Stretch Those Tootsies

Stretching your feet before a walk or run is essential as it helps to prepare your muscles, reduce the risk of injury, and enhance your performance. It also increases flexibility and range of motion in your feet and ankles; which can help prevent foot-related problems like plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis.

Toe Raises: Standing, raise your toes off the ground, keeping your heels planted on the floor. Hold for 10 to 15 seconds, then release. Repeat 10 to 15 times. This stretch will help strengthen your foot muscles and improve your balance.

Ankle Circles: Sit with your legs extended in front of you. Rotate your right ankle in a clockwise direction for 10 to 15 seconds, then switch to counterclockwise direction for another 10 to 15 seconds. Repeat for your left foot. This stretch will help loosen up your ankle joints and improve your range of motion.

Sole Stretch: Sit with your legs extended in front of you. Place a tennis ball under the arch of your foot. Roll the ball back and forth along the length of your foot, applying gentle pressure. Repeat on the other foot. This stretch will help loosen up the plantar fascia, a band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot, and reduce the risk of injury.

Couple Starts New Energy Wellness Center in Greenville

Recently engaged couple, Elizabeth Stump and Josh McGinn, have started a new business together in Greenville: Regenerate Wellness Center – a private membership association.

The concept is centered around all life being energy, and every cell in your body is a mini-battery pumping out 70-90 millivolts – when healthy. Our cells lose this energy causing diseases due to the daily onslaught of our environment, including unhealthy frequencies, radiation, toxins, and chemicals. The Energy Enhancement System provides an energetic environment that helps bring your cells back to the healthy 70-90 millivolts, allowing the body to naturally heal itself and detox.

Stump says, “This technology helps the body heal and recover by reenergizing on a cellular level. The benefits are boundless.”

ReGenerate Wellness Center is located at 2084 Woodruff Rd, Ste A in Greenville. To get your 50% off your first visit, call: 864-887-2617 or text: 864-419-2884. For more information visit: ReGenerateYourWellness.com.
